Packaging Decomposition that is On Demand

Did you know that you can make the breakdown of items happen at the snap of your fingers, or with a trigger? This new innovation in packaging breaks down the items when a stimuli or trigger is in place. So, when that happens in the environment, it breaks the item down, and from there, creates a more eco friendly experience. it is a new ways to make decomposition easier for packaging, especially when you’re trying to put together certain conditions for it to work.

The process

With this packaging, materials dissolve in water, or biodegrade under different conditions. So, let’s say you throw the packaging waste in water, and then it breaks down. Or maybe, when the packaging hits some plant surfaces, or in a place where microbes in thee soil can interact with this it can break down.

Another is UV light.   Shining a UV light on an item can break this down, and it will disappear. It works like magic, and when it happens, you don’t have to worry about the packaging sticking around again.

The applications

Obviously this type of packaging is novel, and has a lot of us.

Eco Friendly shipping is one of them.   It is packaging and shipping that goes to different places.

It also works well for single-use packaging for food.   This food packaging needs to be gone, and making it so that it disappears helps to get rid of it, making disposal a lot better.

Another is temporary protective wraps. Some items need a film for the transport stage, but once it gets to the customer, it can be tossed away. Making it so that it will decompose instantly is great, as it will allow for the item to be adequately disposed of, regardless of how long it takes to get to the customer.

A lot of green brands and zero-waste companies are adopting this for the sole reason of it fits the branding nest, which we will get to next.

The benefits

With this type of packaging, it eliminates long-term waste. In fact, it might be gone within a couple of minutes, or a month at most. With our landfills growing, having this type of means to reduce any waste in the long-term is great.

It also provides controlled disposal, which means that when it is tossed away, it is done correctly. The problem with a lot of green packaging is people do not do it correctly, which in turn impacts the way that it gets tossed.   Even if you believe it is correct, it is not, and that’s a problem.

Finally, it prevents plastic pollution, another major problem with people. Plastic is a big issue, and while legislation is trying to keep it around, a lot of companies are not for it. reduction and elimination of plastic pollution is good for the long-term, and should be considered.

The future of this Packaging

There is a lot of future innovations that go into this as well. Some of them might use smart biodegradable packaging, which activates the decomposition process until it happens in the right disposal environment. Some people toss the items away incorrectly, but then, they might end up breaking down over time. Or sometimes, the item is kept around and slowly breaks down.

With this label, the activation only works when it’s in the correct disposal environment.   Obviously there is a way to go with all of this, and a lot of packaging concerns to have, but if you’re careful and are mindful of how packaging plays a part, and how decomposition is used, it works great.
